RE- free turbotax online, do I really need to pay a 40$ upgrade to claim a valid professional fee paid out of pocket as an employment expense?
There have been changes made to TurboTax Free Online. To enter employment expenses such, as union dues, on your 2021 return, you will need to use TurboTax Deluxe Online or higher. Please see these TurboTax FAQs for more information:
