Last year, my taxes were done using the online version due to the wrong type being purchased, and unable to return it as the box was opened.
I do not want to use the online service this year as I like having my tax info on my personal computer.
can I use my 2022 data to import into the 2024 version. I use the CRA interface for my tax slips.
Unfortunately, you can't import your previous taxes year's data from TurboTax Online to TurboTax Desktop. TurboTax Online can't export anything other than a PDF file, and TurboTax Desktop can't open PDF files. Only .ttxx files.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Hello,
that was not what i asked.
what I asked was if I get 2024 desktop, can I use the "autofill" from 2022.
No, CRA's Auto-Fill will only give you the data for the tax year you are working on. There is no option to change the year, as everything you get through Auto-Fill is specific to the one year only.
FYI: Auto-Fill for 2024 will not be available until February 24, 2025.
I'm sorry. I'm not being clear. I will try one more time.
I want to know, if I buy turbotax 2024 desktop, can I use Turbotax 2022 files that i have to "auto populate" my details - name, address, etc.
I know that CRA will only give current data.
No, TurboTax Desktop 2024 can only transfer information from TurboTax Desktop 2023 files. If you did your 2023 taxes with different software, you'll need to enter in your info manually.
If you haven't done your 2023 taxes yet, it's recommended to do them first, and you still have time to file before NETFILE shuts down for maintenance on January 31, 2025. Then you can use your 2023 file to start your 2024 return.
