Our teams are working hard at getting the forms all unlockedāwe appreciate your patience, and we will update you as soon as it has been resolved.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
I am still have this issue. Can I submit without fix it? this is turbotax issue or cra issue.
The sum of box 52 and box 53 must equal the total capital gain or loss in box 21 of your T3 slip. Please review your imported data.
Got it from watermans4
What I eventually did was enter the same amount in box 52 to agree with the amount in box 21. I deleted the amount in box 53. Hey presto, the error message disappeared. Now, I am a happy puppy and hope this works for you. Cheers, Michael
Only 1 entry in Box 52 to = Box 21 on left side so. Leave all other Box 52 & 53s empty. Done & submitted.
I don't get it. Schedule 3 is still locked by CRA and not finalized by CRA yet. (Or already fixed?)
Even you could submit and gone through, there might be an error. Then you have to pay again to refile.
I saw the comment that rounding numbers works.
I suggested rounding dismals a few weeks before, Turbotax moderator said not to do it.
Has the situation changed since then?
I would like to know if I should wait or jump to someone's solution.
Donāt know if fixes or not by CRA. I just tried what I mentioned to you & error message disappeared. CRA accepted. I donāt think we would have to resubmit & pay again. They may want to see the T3 to confirm numbers but can just submit it to CRA directly. Too late for me now. Got my submission confirmation from CRA so weāll see
Saw this earlier today. Exactly what I did
What I was told by another software provider, which aligns with my suspicions that this scenario was the result of political bureaucracy and bad timing.
Just put the value in Box 21 into Box 53:
------------------
We understand your concern regarding the error message about Box 52 and Box 53 needing to sum to the value in Box 21. We're aware of this issue and can provide some clarification:
1. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has recently informed financial institutions that completing Boxes 52 and 53 is not mandatory this year due to the reversal of the Capital Gains changes.
2. As a result, many financial institutions have not filled in these boxes on the T3 slips, which aligns with what you've observed on your spouse's slips.
3. This situation is affecting multiple tax software platforms, including ours and TurboTax, as you've noted.
To proceed with your filing:
ā¢ If you're unsure which period the gains relate to, you can use Box 53 for the amount shown in Box 21.
My financial advisor told me that the CRA should never have updated their systems with the proposed Capital Gains changes. They should only update their systems AFTER the bill has received Royal Assent. Since the Liberal government decided to delay the change until 2026, CRAs systems were no longer correct. But with Parliament being prologued and the uncertainty of when the next election would be, I suspect the CRA postponed updating their systems in case Poilevre get elected and totally axes the proposed Capital Gains proposal rather than just delaying it.
@277rt For the error on the T3 slip not balancing box 52+53 to equal box 21A, trying to enter the sum of 52+53 into box 53 (deleting 52) will fix the problem.
