Yes, you will need to enter dates manually if they weren’t filled in by Auto-Fill.
The 2024 T5008 requires a date of disposition due to the new capital gains rate that was supposed to apply to Capital Gains after June 24, 2024. Even though the new capital gains rate is not going into effect this year, the requirement is still there.
Hi. Thanks for the response. I was hoping there is an easier way as there are at least 100 entries. Do you have any idea why this info is omitted in the download?
To verify that information, you can always get in touch with the issuer. Occasionally, this information is left out without any sound justification.
So....as an FYI.....the date information is on the paper copy that was mailed to me. I do not know why the info was not downloaded from CRA. Not sure if that is a TurboTax problem or a CRA problem. Anyhow....I got it fixed. Took a long time, but got it. Thanks
How did you add the dates?
Hi Katy - in the end it was going to take too long to manually add the dates. There was over 150 entries and the refresh time on each entry on TurboTax was about 15-20 seconds. It was way too long. I do recall that last year I created a spreadsheet and just entered the data in bulk from each institution. So...only about 10 entries (manually). That worked last year, so I am hoping that is acceptable again this year. I did not do an auto download from CRA. Hope this helps.
Yes, thank you!!
