Where do you report the sale of a sole proprietorship?

According to TurboTax Canada, you must file the form RC145 Request to Close Business Number (BN) Program Accounts with the CRA when closing your business. This form enables you to perform the three steps necessary to close a business:

  1. Close payroll accounts
  2. Forwarding the GST/HST, and
  3. Filing appropriate sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporate notices of dissolution
