same issue
Same Issue this morning (April 3) with update not working and not being able to open TurboTax. Interesting that it updated yesterday morning when I was using it.
I did the procedure mentioned earlier (choose yes to update, then no in next prompt (allowing TT to make changes to computer) that worked. I'm using Windows 10, and am admin on my PC. Maybe those that it's not working for don't have admin rights???
I also have used TT for a decade or more, and it's gone downhill in the last 3-4 yrs (I suspect since it was bought by another company). Said I wasn't going to buy it after last yr, but broke down and bought it this year. What a mistake. It's like they don't want any customers, and their (phone) customer service is a nightmare.
I'll give that a try. Frustrating not to be able to open the program at all to enter info.
Thanks for the tip.
@VeryTaxing The very kludgy procedure of uninstalling and then reinstalling from https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax/software/download worked for me. If you are worried that uninstalling might delete your tt24 files (it didn't delete mine), then a prudent extra step would be to make a backup of those tt24 files before doing the uninstall. After the update, make sure the About Box shows this version (or later): Version 00.01.62 Build 6007 068G25
Yes, have same problem. Tried re-installing & same failure. This is poor as this product is required for timely filing by the end of the month! Not good! :(
Have the same problem but your workaround to reply no to the request to make changes to computer worked for me - thanks and is a lot easier than uninistalling/reinstalling. Hopefully Turbotax will fix the software update problem quickly but I will be testing Turbotax alternatives once I get this years submitted (after 10+ years with Turbotax) - have had too many frustrations/problems with recent versions.
Wow, how did you get a live support person?
SOLUTION:
To All Concerned,
I just spoke with Customer Service at Intuit TurboTax and the solution is as follows:
1) Uninstall Turbotax 2024 from the Installed Apps Section of Windows 10/11.
2) Download the latest TurboTax setup file (for your version) from Turbotax.
Link: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax/software/download
3) Backup your TurboTax file folder as a precaution, but they should be unaffected be the reinstallation.
4) Install once downloaded and installed all should be good again.
You're welcome.
Regards,
NKoury
PS: Product code re-entry should not be required. Re-enter only if requested.
