The alert added by TurboTax before Netfile says that "its a CRA issue affecting all tax software in Canada" Funny, there are no news reports of a major issue at CRA causing a long list of error codes that affect EVERY software provider. Has anyone contacted CRA to verify that this problem is, in fact, a CRA issue? In other words, is the alert from TurboTax being truthful with all of us? The frustration and anger continues...
We are attempting to resolve this error in collaboration with CRA. We hope to have this resolved by or on April 14th, and our development team is working on it. For our customers' awareness, we have placed a banner in the TurboTax filing section. Thank you for your patience.
To Moderator Aniquaā¦ I just called a nearby office of H&R Block. They are having NO problems with electronic filing. The statement provided in the TurboTax filing section saying that itās due to a CRA issue affecting all tax software in Canada is NOT TRUE. My T3 form aligns with the 2024 sample on the CRA website and is identical to the 2023 tax year. I had a capital gain value in Box 21 for 2023 and there was no issue. I have a capital gain value in Box 21 for 2024 that is being ignored by your software. The calculation of my tax owing is, therefore, grossly inaccurate. Iāve spent many hours on this mess. You need to do more than ask us for our patience. Fix the software to read box 21 correctly and compensate us for the purchase of your faulty product.
Good Morning,
I also tried to file my taxes and Turbo tax prevented it with the error "The sum of capital gains before June 25 in box 52, and capital gains after June 24 in box 53, must equal the total capital gains in box 21. Review and adjust your entries."
This cannot be an issue with the CRA since I also get the message: "your NETFILE errors prevent you from using CRA's NETFILE service"
My return has not even been submitted to the CRA - It is a Turbo Tax issue.
Please add me to the list of people who will be notified when this is fixed.
Thank You
The CRA was going to change how capital gains are processed for 2024, the software companies changed their software to accommodate this change. Then as usual, CRA changed their minds...so the software has to be changed back. It affected all software, an accountant that I was talking to said that their proprietary software needed 5 updates before it got corrected.
The problem with Turbotax is that they are not fast enough with the proper corrections to their software.
@fairwayflunkie Thanks for your feedback; we appreciate it!

Please provide a link to this banner in the 'filing section'. It is not that obvious.

I was also wondering where is this "filing section"? I'm using the Desktop version. I'm not aware of any "filing section" window.
On my T3 I do not have a box 52 and box 53.
The banner is on the top of the screen after you save your returns. The next screen is where you begin to Netfile. Not sure why its not letting me post the photo. On the desktop version, after you save your returns, then the next screen is Audit defense, then the following screen is where the banner is at the top of the page.
