If anyone has a way around this, please respond.
I have had multiple instances over the past few years that I needed to go back to the software to look at something with the tax calculations sued wehn I filed my return. Nearly every time, it wants to update the application with latest updates - no way to get around that. What if those updates change the behind the scenes calculations making it different from somethinsomething that I filed?
If at the point I want to open an existing return, why not give me two buttons?
1. The first says View Only. It allows full ability to view forms and the My Tax Data report. DOes not allow esiting or saving.
2. THe second button would be "Open for Editing". It is ONLY at this point you would require updates to dowloaded and laoded. After that, TT would work just like it currently does.
Yes, updates are always recommended-however if you wish to keep a PDF copy of your return, then you can "view only". We appreciate your feedback and will send it to the appropriate team.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
