Thanks for your input... unfortunately i've thrown the box away a month ago...
Hoping the moderator will respond with how to get that serial number back just in case!
I did not need my serial number.
Good Luck!
I didn't reinstall TT. I just refused the Windows dialog asking
for permission to do the update and then TT started with the
presumably old version.
I then went to the Help menu and checked for updates.
I went ahead with the update and it worked this time.
Everything seems okay so far, I'll report back if I have any problems.
Had this same issue this morning. Spent an hour on the phone with a support agent. Tried several uninstalls then reinstalls. Had to end call without a solution. Now, here's the trick that I discovered....you need to download the latest software installer (links in previous posts). Run the new installer and it updates the existing version of TT2024 on your PC. All good after that. No need for licence keys and it does not erase your tax files.

Agree with all comments mentioned. Over the years; quality has gone down (most likely a lack of proper testing..), and has continuously been taking longer to use considering bugs encountered and with more and more screens to get you to buy more upgrade options.
If users cannot even launch and use the product, Intuit should be treating this recent issue with top priority, considering the time of the year with tax season in full swing. A workaround such as uninstalling and re-installing, is simply not acceptable, the issue needs to be fixed.
I too have been using Turbotax for many years, however this is my last year dealing with such a buggy product. Time to look at alternatives!
If you uninstall the program and reinstall it, will you loose the files that you have already filed for 2024?

I didn't lose my files this morning. But if in doubt, you can make a backup of the *.tt24 files before attempting uninstall.
I just ran TT using this method and it upgraded properly from the Help menu.
Version is 00.01.62 6007 068G25.

Looks good. That's the same version I got after doing the workaround-style upgrade.
No you will not lose you TurboTax files, but as a precaution make a backup of your 2024 TurboTax Folder.
