Inconsistency between federal income and Quebec income

1. Foreign income - summary

Plus foreign income, capital gains (stock sales); not included in RQ income

2. capital gains and capital gains deduction-summary

Calculate capital gains as required and 50% of earnings on RQ for tax purposes

3 As a result, 100% of the taxable capital gains on the federal tax return were taken into account and the income on the federal tax return did not correspond to the income in Quebec.

4. reason: the increase in foreign income-summary net foreign capital gains (sale of shares) and the data in the capital gains and capital gains deduction profiles are calculated twice. , taxable capital gains are taxed at 100% of the gain and Quebec gains are taxed at 50%. Federal and Quebec income are not matched.

How can it be resolved?

The issue related to Schedule 3 was reported to our teams. Unfortunately, this is not a situation under our control. At this time, some CRA forms are still being reviewed by them for the 2024 tax season, which could explain why some calculations are not done correctly or do not appear, and this has an effect on other calculation linked to this schedule.

We invite you to contact our product support team by phone, if you think this is not related.

They have access to tools we don't have here in Community, like screenshare, and see the issues to escalate into an investigation if needed.

Thank you for your patience and choosing TurboTax.

I did a test with UFile and there is no such problem. I think there is a problem with the computational relationship between the tables.

According to the latest notice of the Federal Tax Administration "Taxable Capital Gains" is still maintained at 50%.

Instead of reporting "Foreign Capital Gains" in Foreign Income, foreign capital gains are reported in the "Summary of Capital Gains and Capital Gains Deductions", which is the same for both federal and Quebec returns. However, this should not meet the requirements of the tax law.

I would like to resolve this issue.

Inconsistency between federal income and Quebec income

I have been using TurboTax to file my taxes for 5 years and I purchased the software early this year, but was disappointed that the software was clearly buggy and I had hoped that I would be alerted to the timely fixing of the software bugs.

I was hoping to be told how to get a refund (purchased online).
