Yes line 20 on FHSA schedule 15 is a problem. It should allow manual entry if you don't want to deduct FHSA contributions this year (i.e. carryforward to a future year).
This must be fixed or you can't file using Turbotax 2023.
Thank you for your feedback, we value your opinion and will share this information with the proper TurboTax team. We will advise you as soon as the issue is corrected.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Line 20 on FHSA schedule 15 is STILL a problem.
It will not allow manual entry if you don't want to deduct FHSA contributions this year (i.e. carryforward to a future year).
This issue was first flagged way back in January and again over two weeks ago. It's the same process as unclaimed RRSP deductions. Is there an ETA on when this issue will be resolved? It's been almost two months already.
This must be fixed or I can't file my return using TurboTax 2023.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will verify with our development team and if the issue has not already been solved, will work on a fix in a future update. You will be advised when the issue has been corrected.
Thank you for your patience and choosing TurboTax.
Thanks for your quick response.
It hasn't been resolved. I just spent 45 minutes with the Customer Support team and my only resolution was a link to this thread.
Thank you!
I think you can override and still use netfile (TurboTax support said I can do it).
I haven't filed yet but almost ready and I over rode that field and I've gone to the end of TurboTax (past error report, etc) and it looks like I'll be able to netfile.
Good luck let mw know if that works. I'm filing next week.
Thx!
Thank you for that update.
Thank you for using TurboTax.
Please post if the work around allows you to file correctly. I'm still waiting for some slips, so I won't be filing for a while. I do hope TurboTax fixes the issue though.
Thank you!
@JBBlair1 The over ride will not stop you from using NETFILE.
The TurboTax help line is of little actual help. They currently believe that Sch15 Line 20 is functioning correctly.
Line 20 must be able to accept manual input much like the RRSP worksheet line (ii), end of story.
Here's how to prove:
1. confirm that the Line 20 field is coming up "Calculated amount" when trying to enter less than the default amount.
2. Remove the "X" at the top of the form
3. Run the review process. It will clearly ask if you want to deduct a lesser amount. And it will populate Sch 15 correctly. The number will appear as red just as it does if override is used. The Review process uses a clearer explanation as to what is required on line 20
Good grief, TurboTax. Get a cold set of eyes on this issue.
It's just a sloppier product and I'm surprised TurboTax has released it to the market
Further Sch15 issue(s):
Line 6 has no description
2024 Carryforwards make no mention of FHSA (assuming Sch15 shows carryforwards available to 2024)
This is a no-brainer fix ... and they've indicated to me that nothing further will be done.
