I am self-employed and my wife is employed
I filed Turbotax together with my wife
I paid the self-employed rate and Turbotax charged me the self-employed rate for my wife as well. I believe I should only have to pay the Standard rate for her but I did not see where I could change that. So I paid the two self-employed rates because I was in a hurry to get my taxes filed.
I think I should get credit for this over payment.
Yes? No?
Unfortunately, for 2019, there is no discount for a spouse’s return in any version of TurboTax Online.
Thank you for your response
It is advantageous to do a return along with your spouse so I wouldn’t want to do them separately
It doesn’t make sense to get charged for the upper level of product if it’s not needed
Maybe Turbotax could consider changing this in future
