I am an owner of your PC Desktop version of TurboTax Canada for 2014 and for 2015.
Please show me how I can download a copy of the latest/last version of the 2 above software.
I had a hard disk failure on my PC and I have to rebuild all the applications such as TurboTax from my installation CDs.
When I tried opening my .tt14 and .tt15 data files, I got the TT414 error: “The file was created with a later version of TurboTax than the one currently installed.”
Please advise where I can download the appropriate software version.
Unfortunately, as of 2023, we no longer support version of TurboTax before 2016.
While we understand that you would like to have copies of all your old tax returns, even the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) generally only requires you to keep records and supporting documents for a period of six years from the end of the last tax year they relate to.
If you still need information from an older return, you can get it using the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)’s My Account service. You can also contact the CRA at 1-800-959-8281 to request the information.
Hello,
Whether CRA requires me to maintain old record or not, is irrelevant.
If you understand I want to access all my old tax returns, then please help me get access to my data through your software that I have purchased. Intuit should not have a policy that would lock me out of access to my own data, created through your software.
I am not asking for technical support of an older software. I am asking for a way, through the software license that I have purchased, to access my own data.
Please advise next steps. And please don't ask me to get it from CRA/Myaccount, a 3rd party. Intuit/TurboTax has an obligation to its customers, particularly those that have been totally loyal to your company/product (every year since 2006 in my case).
Thank you.
Unfortunately, the downloads for the installation and update files for 2014 and for 2015 are no longer available.
As per the software licensing agreement:
9. CHANGES.
We reserve the right to change this Agreement at any time, and the changes will be effective when posted on our website for the Software or when we notify you by other means. We may also change or discontinue the Software or Intuit Services, in whole or in part. Your continued use of the Software or Intuit Services indicates your agreement to the changes.
Thank you for confirming Intuit has taken a hard stand, exercised its full legal right under section 9 of the software licensing agreement and decided not to support a long time loyal customer with the ability to access his/her own data after a very unfortunate PC hard drive failure.
I am very very disappointed with Intuit in this regard.
None of this is my business, but I know exactly where you are.
I've been using TurboTax (QuickTax) since 1998 and, of course, have all the programs, updates, and tax returns for the years 1998 to now.
In the past, I've had to go back to returns from more than 10 years to make adjustments. In my case it was claiming capital losses on stock selling transactions where the ACB wasn't calculated properly. In the old days, the CRA didn't get the T5008s (or didn't process them), so it had to be corrected through paper T1-ADJs.
Anyway, what I'm saysing is that I understand Intuit's position (who wants to support software forever), I do see the utility of having all the software available.
I don't know how to 'send' this to you, but if you respond here, i can try to figure it out.
Eric
Hi Gump. I would be in your debt if you could email me a copy of the 2014 installation file... [email address removed]
