Who can claim canada workers benefit

The Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) is a refundable tax credit to help individuals and families who are working and earning a low income.

  • To claim the CWB you must pay taxes, earn a working income below the net income level set for your province, and be a Canadian resident age 19 or older on December 31 of the year you’re filing.
  • Canadians who received the CWB in 2022 will automatically get advance payments from the CRA without having to apply.

For more information please refer to this link: How to Apply for the Canada Workers Benefit.

Who can claim canada workers benefit

I am trying to file our daughter’s taxes. She has a dependent but was a student full time in college. When I look it up she should still get the CWB because of having an eligible dependent but the program keeps taking away the benefit. Not sure how to fix this.

@Rob2015 How much is her income? For single individuals, the CWB amount is reduced if your adjusted net income is more than $26,149. You don't get the credit if the adjusted net income is more than $36,749.

Her income is below that but she did receive OSAP so with the amount she made and OSAP it totals out to over that.

@Rob2015 If her adjusted net income is not meeting the eligibility criteria, that could be the reason she is not qualified for CWB.
