rental income

I co-own a house with my spouse that I dont live with. Even though i have helped her out so many times, I have allowed here to receive and claim all the rental income the last few years. Is that allowed for one spouse to just receive and claim it all?

Its just been so hard to deal with her so i let her do that. She has also been claiming any expenses as well. All of a sudden she wants me to claim some expenses because her income is so low.  I cant just claim those expenses now right?

If you are co-owners of the rental unit then yes, you can claim expenses from your rental unit. What you can do, is claim 50% of everything since it is co-owned. You enter the full amounts, making sure you enter that you own 50% and TurboTax will do the calculations for you. Click here to see how to enter your rental income and expenses.
