Yes I know about that page. I’ve read it. But it says I have to calculate my tradesperson deductions first if I qualify for any. Then calculate my apprentice deductions. I’m asking how do i know if i qualify for tradespersons deductions? I know i qualify for the apprentice deductions. But I need to know if i qualify for both. The CRA isn’t clear on what they consider to be a tradesperson.

The meaning of "Trade Person" is very vague, but it seems that the main factor is that only tradespersons would ordinarily be required by their employers to purchase "eligible tools" that would exceed a total cost of $1,000 in a year.
And yes, you can take both the apprentice tool deduction & the tradesperson deduction. However, your apprentice tool deduction will be reduced by any tradesperson deduction that you claim.
Ok. My employer is saying that I don’t qualify for both as I’m not a tradesperson. But like it was said. Tradesperson is very vague. Most people would see a tradesperson as anyone who works in the trades. Correct?
