Just installed TT24 Desktop Standard, and the same as last year, when I went to import data from last years return, it couldn't see the .tt23 file
I have a folder for 2023 and in it there is a file with extension .tt23
but your software can't see it.
I had the same problem last year and had to call for support, taking like an hour of my time.
Why can't you fix this problem?
Is it not showing it in the list of files you can transfer? if so you can click on Browse at the very bottom of the "Welcome to TurboTax!" page to locate it.
If it's not showing up when you click on Browse, then try moving the file to your desktop, or someplace else that you are sure is on your computer itself (not external, network or cloud storage).
I shouldn't have to move the .tt23 file anywhere. It is in a folder mike/documents/turbotax/2023
What file extension are you looking for?
I solved the problem myself.
I double clicked on the .tt23 file and it opened Turbotax for 2023.
I exited Turbotax 2023.
I started up Turbotax 2024, and this time it could see the .tt23 file.
But I shouldn't have to do anything. What if I didn't have Turbotax 2023 still on my system?
You are doing something wrong.
This is the 2nd time in arow that I've had the same problem. I shouldn't have to call your support line to have your software see last years file...
