Hi Community,
I am filing with @TurboTax from three years. On both my 2nd filing & 3rd filing, I did not received the full refund they made at the end of the submitted netfile. On my 2nd filing, it was just $300 difference so i just left it. On my 2022, filling there was a difference of approximately $750 difference. So I contacted Turbotax maybe like more than 20 times, and every time they keep on giving me new investigation numbers and ask me documents which I have shared 5-6 times and never herded them back.
They hang up after keeping calling on hold for hours stating that they couldnt find a problem and that our expert will call you. And it never happened during the entire year. I contacted them recently again and still not herd back. Please guide, that should I case or any other solution to get my money back.
THANKS
We have sent for a callback to be made for you. You should be receiving a call within the next 72 business hours.
Here is some information to look through.
While it can be a frustrating experience, it is fairly common for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to make a tax return assessment that is different from yours.
Without knowing your full tax situation, it is hard to determine why you did not receive the same refund. Perhaps you’ve missed tax credits or deductions, which is easy to do, and it can be fixed if it is necessary.
You can compare your last year's tax return to this year's tax return and you will notice if there are any differences
If your working income was low, you may have been entitled to the Canada Workers Benefit. However, if you are in school full time, you are not eligible for this refundable credit.
Differences may occur as per the Canada Revenue Agency's Indexation adjustment for personal income tax and benefit amounts
For more information please see our TurboTax article: Why is My Refund Lower Than Last Year?
The CRA collects and maintains your tax information, and they may already have some of your tax slips for the current year (for example, T4 slips submitted to the CRA by your employer,) as well as other tax-related information from previous years (such as carry-forward amounts, RRSP limits, etc.). When filing your taxes, the CRA considers all of this information in totality in making their assessment.
The reasons for these discrepancies may vary, and can range from very simple (typo or data entry error, forgotten slip, receipt, amount, etc) to complex (carry-forward amounts not included, accounting errors, etc).
Verifying the source of discrepancy between your NOA and the tax return you filed
In most cases, the CRA will explain how they calculated your tax refund or balance owing, and you can find this information on your Notice of Assessment (NOA), under the heading Explanation of changes and other important information. Compare the line numbers on your NOA and their corresponding values with those entered into TurboTax. If you used the TurboTax online edition, use the detailed summary page of your tax return to do the comparison.
If you need clarification or have any concerns, contact CRA.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Community again,
No calls received and contacted CRA, they say it’s an error from Turbotax and they will refund what they guaranteed. Please suggest how to proceed. Im not gonna leave behind my money. First we pay taxes, and they deduct extra taxes.
Your case is still open, as is your call back request. If you don't get a call by Monday evening, let us know. Or you contact our phone support team at 1-888-829-8608.
As usual, no call received or no update on my case since 1 year. Community, turbotax is just good for filing at once, later no customer service or simply no FIXING.
We have verified and you are on the list for a callback. Unfortunately at this time we aren't sure what day they will contact you. We will contact them for you once again.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
