Just wondering if this got resolved. I’m experiencing the same thing.
$42 for mine and spouse return if I will add my spouse.
If you are doing a spousal return, you are doing 2 returns at the same time and are being charged for 2 returns as there will be 2 separate returns to be filed. If you started with our free software you may have needed to upgrade.
Your information may not have changed but the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) changes the way things are calculated every year which might make a difference in certain deductions or new credits being allowed. When you start a new return, TurboTax will ask you questions about your tax situation and recommend the best product for you. As you work on your taxes, you may have to change products based on the complexity of your return. You may be upgraded to help claim expenses you’re entitled to, but might not know about.
There might be donations in box 46 of your T4 or Employee-paid premiums (medical) in box 85 of your T4 which would require an upgrade to allow you to claim additional credits not included in the free version. Please see the list below enumerating what is or is not included in the free version.
Simple tax returns include:
Employment income
Pension income
Other employment income such as tips
RRSP contributions
Child care expenses

Amount for eligible/infirm dependents
Tuition, scholarships, bursaries, grants, student loan interest

Income, credits, and deductions not listed above are not covered by TurboTax Free, including:

I bought the Deluxe Online edition, went to the website and activated it. Now when I want to start my return it says I have to pay $21 for each one. I already bought the package. Why is it asking for payment?

I purchase 8 returns. 1 was submitted in April. The second return is using the same address and computer but "something went wrong" is causing an issue now.
When do you get the "Something went wrong" error?
When I reply to your email, I get an error message. When I have completed my return, I am asked for payment or a code. The code takes me to the the activation code area and this is where it states "something went wrong." Thank you for getting back to me.
You need to go to your tax return and when you get to the payment page you will enter your code in the coupon code box. If the error persists then we believe your best option is to contact our telephone support team for further assistance, as they have the option to view your screen to help resolve the issue.
