Will Turbotax 2025 continue to work with Windows 10 next year?

Thanks.  I tried all that and my TT2025.exe keeps crashing on MSVCR110.dll which part of the C++ 2012 Redistributable.  I have uninstalled the (x86 and x64) 2012, 2015-2022 versions and even installed more recent V14 versions (x86 and x64) yet it is still uses and crashes on the 2012 DLL?  Yes, I rebooted between every install and/or repair to no avail.  Makes no sense.

I am sorry to hear that, this is crazy.  The base of the two OS when I talk to my MS senior tech contacts is not that different.

They did say repairs won't fix the problem, it does not reset the full VC++ suite.  So full re-installs is required.

I run under administrator as well.  The error you got with MSVCR110 is what I was getting after TT2025 installed.  Then by reinstalling the latest (x86/x64) solved it.    UGH how frustrating it did not work for you.    I did not go back to the 2012 version, just the 2015-2022 ad the latest.

I have now run one return right through the netfile and it worked fine.

I was hoping it would help everyone what I posted.  Sorry it did not for you.

Will Turbotax 2025 continue to work with Windows 10 next year?

Already called and went through this unsintall and reinstall process with them.  They said they were escalating it and they were talking to someone else who asked a few questions and just reverted to "you're going to have to use the online version".  So I asked what if next year I want to come back and make a change to 2025 and refile?  The answer was you would have to install the 2025 version on windows 11.  Wow!

Anyway, I just went even further and uninstalled the 2012, 2015 and V14 version of C++ runtime.  Then I uninstalled TT2025.  Rebooted and reinstalled, it asked to install the 2015 C++ runtime but it could not do it (Setup failed).  So I installed the x86 2015 runtime and reinstalled tt2025.  it installed but crashed on the same 2012 MSVCR110.dll.  So I installed the X64 and uninstalled and re-installed TT2025 again.  Crashed again.  So I renamed that DLL in the SystemWOW64 folder with an x at the end and rebooted and reran TT2025.  said the MSVCR110.DLL was missing and to reinstall TT.  Did that and ran it and it crash again on the same 2012 DLL but dated even before the one I had renamed. What?  So TT2025 is installing a 2012 C++ runtime DLL but asks me to make sure the 2015 version is installed?  What a mess.

@ddesjard If you do your returns with TurboTax Do It Yourself (Online), you can ReFILE using the online version. You can't even open online returns in the Desktop version.

do you mean that all prior year versions will be available online in the future?

Will Turbotax 2025 continue to work with Windows 10 next year?

@ddesjard No. For ReFile you can do this year, and the last 2 years. So right now you can ReFILE in TurboTax Do It Yourself (Online) 2023, 2024, 2025. PDF archives of your returns are available for up to 7 years, though.

Will Turbotax 2025 continue to work with Windows 10 next year?

Dear TurboTaxAniqua:

I'm confused by this post of Jan. 2026.  I bought the copy of Turbotax from Staples and the box says very clearly that you must have Windows 11.  But you are saying here it will still run on Windows 10 perfectly well, but there will be some potential security risks?  I need to know because I'm doing the tax tonight and I would prefer to load it onto my Win 10 desktop rather than my Win 11 laptop.  Can you or anyone else out there reply tonight?

Also, the box says "Desktop version" -- does that include laptops?

As of early April Windows 10 support only applies to the "Canadian" version. The USA users got shafted and must have Windows 11 for any non-online version (e.g DVD, desktop, laptop, downloadable). If you are using the USA desktop version you will have to use Windows 11

I bought the version at a Canadian Staples store, but all the boxes say, under technical requirements, that it works only on Windows 11.   So either you are mistaken, or the Canadian store is stocking American versions, or the Canadian store's versions will work on Windows 10 but Intuit doesn't want to advertise that.

I ended up loading it onto a Windows 11 laptop because I wasn't confident it would work on my Windows 10 desktop.
