@MorganRae We are aware of this issue, and our development team is working on a resolution. We are hoping this can be resolved quickly. Once it is resolved, we will update you in this thread. We appreciate your patience.
Do you have an ETA for this fix? The deadline is approaching and we need this done.
I have been experiencing the same problem for the past two weeks and phone tech support twice. Spent over one hour over the phone each time and no fix yet. To add insult to injury, I get an e-mail after each call to inform me that my trouble ticket is now closed and I am requested to fill out a survey. I am told that a fix will be available in a near future but no one knows when and can't tell me how I will be informed that such fix is available for me for download. We are now in April with 30 days to go before the deadline. I have redone my returns twice from scratch (for my wife and I) to see if it was a finger problem and the results/issues are there same. After 10 years as a user of the TurboTax product, I find this very poor treatment of a loyal customer disgusting and will need to ensure Protégez-vous and Consumer Report are aware.
I am also getting the same error message about the CPP/QPP contributions and I live in Alberta. I double checked all the boxes and have entered them correctly. I think Box 16A is messing things up because I have never had to enter any amount in that box in the past.
Please fix ASAP. I would like to submit to the CRA. Thank you!
I live in Ontario, and work in Quebec (military). I am having the exact same problem. We don't contribute to QPP, and my T4 QC shows contributions to CPP only (nothing in boxes 17 and 17A), but the software demands that those amounts entered in 16/16A be entered into 17/17A, contrary to what my actual T4 QC shows. I cannot save and continue with my T4 QC; software won't let me. No issues when entering my T4 ON.
I did a screen share with a Turbo Tax representative, and they told me that the problem is with CRA (I don't think so, to be honest...it's the software). I was told to manually print off my return and mail it to CRA. But even my printed return will still be incorrect, since the software required me to add amounts in 16 and 16A into 17/17A.
Lol, you're gonna love this.
I called them yesterday to try to get an ETA for this fix and the rep I chatted with said they're aware and currently working on it, will likely be deployed in 2-3 business days. The investigation number for this error is INV - 33179 (apparently).
So, which rep is lying to us?
That's funny. I am going to wait until next Friday. If there's no fix, then I am mailing it in. The frustrating part is that my return shows me owing taxes....which need to paid by end-April.
@MorganRae You are right! We have an ongoing investigation and our team is working on this issue in collaboration with CRA but we do not have any ETA at the moment.
Thank you for your patience.
Can we please have an update with an acceptable timeframe to have error corrected. It is not right that we are being forced to wait to file our taxes. The tax deadline is fast approaching and you have provided no concrete information for an update. Advise us if a fix will be in place and when it will be in effect or recommend filing by mail because I could have filed 5 weeks ago but I’ve been holding onto your words saying that a fix is coming.
I've been monitoring various threads here related to CPP/QPP entry errors and none of them have been resolved as far as I can see.
I was on the point of mailing in my CRA return when Wealthsimple fixed the error I had and I was then able to file with them .
Their customer service is also much more responsive. I didn't need to call them I sent an email and they provided updates and then a solution.
I read posts here of people who are on the phone with Turbotax support for hours and at the end of it are provided with no solution or even a timeline as to when the problem will be fixed.
I used to file with TT years ago and never had any problems. I then switched to Simpletax later Wealthsimpletax a few years ago.
The only reason I came back to Turbotax this year is when I got an error code with WS and tried Turbotax to see if it was simply a software error with WS.
As it turned out there was a problem with both companies related to the CRA system . The only difference I see is how each company works to resolve the problem.
On that WS was clearly better. I have filed both returns with WS received refunds while people here are still pleading with TT to give them some sort of estimate on when or if it will ever be fixed.
It's been quite an eye opening experience in how each company operates.
