I purchased TurboTax Standard from Costco.
When I try to activate and download I receive an error message that "something's not right, try re-entering your code."
I have tried several times with no success.
If you have bought TurboTax CD/Download, you will be asked for the licence code when you install the software. You can download the current version of TurboTax CD/download edition here: Choose the 2022 TurboTax edition you need (for Windows).
If you have downloaded and installed the software, but you are still having problems with your code, please contact our phone support team at 1-888-829-8608 (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM ET) for more assistance with this issue.
Code 606 not valid for product. It’s the code that came with my product I bought at Costco Canada.
I bout the Deluxe Online Edition - 8 returns.
but could only find the cd and online edition on line. Still only 8 returns.
If I follow instructions on package it leads me to purchasing what I’ve already paid for. I’m frustrated!
You need to go to TurboTax.ca/activate- then enter the code with hyphens. If you get an error, please let us know.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
I did as you instructed many times now and still cannot activate. Now says “something went wrong. Try again”
frustrating. Never had a problem using the CD to load. But no such option with this purchase. Only online access. You’ll need to up your game. Just saying

I bought TurboTax Premier (2024) from Staples. After the download I've entered the licence code multiple times and always get error code 606 (invalid code). I haven't yet found an answer anywhere to gives some idea about what can be done to fix it. I guess I'll have to make the trip back to Staples to see if I can get my money back.
@Ac68 There is a difference between a License Code (for Desktop) and an Activation Code (for Online). Error code 606 means the code you are entering is invalid. It can be because one digit (or more) is incorrected or you are trying to enter a Code for TurboTax Online in a Desktop software (or vice-versa). The codes for TurboTax Online will not work with TurboTax Desktop & vice-versa.
Can you tell us where you bought your product and exactly what it says on the box, if it's a retail purchase?
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Download from .ca and from .com
First, please make sure that you have purchased the right product. The codes for TurboTax Online will not work with TurboTax Desktop & vice-versa.
Second, if you bought TurboTax at a retailer (Costco, Walmart, Staples, etc…), please make sure that you are using the code that came in the package. It may be on a slip of paper or on a scratch-off card. It is not on the outside of the box or on your receipt.
If you have bought TurboTax Online, please go to turbotax.ca/activate to use your code before you start your returns. You can see this TurboTax FAQ for step-by-step instructions: In TurboTax Online, how do I use a prepayment code? Please note that you can only use the code once in one account. Using the code again will give an error message.
If you have bought TurboTax Desktop, you will be asked for the licence code when you install the software. Please see this TurboTax FAQ for more information on the licence code: Where is my TurboTax licence code? You can download the current version of TurboTax Desktop edition here: Choose the 2024 TurboTax edition you need (for Windows). You can download older versions of TurboTax Desktop edition here: Where can I download the Desktop edition of TurboTax?
If you are still not able to resolve your code issue, please contact our phone support team at 1-888-829-8608.
