I'm using Turbotax standard for my 2024 tax return. For FHSA contribution, I wish to carry forward the entire contribution to future years. But I can't do that in Turbotax. If I enter $0 for the amount to deduct for 2024, it disappears and takes the full amount toward 2024. If I enter $1, the remaining amount goes to carry forward. But I want to carry forward the entire amount.
Our development team is looking into this issue. The work around is to either just put in $0.01 instead of zero, or you can over-ride Line 43 to claim zero deduction and have the full amount carry forward. This will not harm your ability to NETFILE.
Overriding is not an option in the Home & Business desktop version. It only works with 0.01 or greater. Entering 0 defaults to no entry.
You need to override Line 43, not the box above it that won't except a zero.
Turbo Tax will not allow me to override line 43. I get an error message telling me I am trying to change the value of a calculated field when I try entering $0 in line 43. I am presented with an option to select "ok" which leaves the field as it was or "Help". There is no override option. It only works if I put in $0.01 in the line above.
Have you made sure to click into the number in Box 43?
