Carry forward full amount of FHSA contribution

I'm using Turbotax standard for my 2024 tax return. For FHSA contribution, I wish to carry forward the entire contribution to future years. But I can't do that in Turbotax. If I enter $0 for the amount to deduct for 2024, it disappears and takes the full amount toward 2024. If I enter $1, the remaining amount goes to carry forward. But I want to carry forward the entire amount.

Our development team is looking into this issue. The work around is to either just put in $0.01 instead of zero, or you can over-ride Line 43 to claim zero deduction and have the full amount carry forward. This will not harm your ability to NETFILE.

Overriding is not an option in the Home & Business desktop version.  It only works with 0.01 or greater.  Entering 0 defaults to no entry.

You need to override Line 43, not the box above it that won't except a zero.

Turbo Tax will not allow me to override line 43.  I get an error message telling me I am trying to change the value of a calculated field when I try entering $0 in line 43.  I am presented with an option to select "ok" which leaves the field as it was or "Help". There is no override option. It only works if I put in $0.01 in the line above.

Have you made sure to click into the number in Box 43?

Has there been a fix for this yet? I cannot select override on my desktop, it is greyed out. I want to input 0, not 0.01 or 1 or anything other than 0.

@gkwc If you wish to claim no deduction for your 2024 FHSA contributions and carry the entire amount forward to next year, you can override the calculated field at line 43 of Schedule 15.

Follow these steps:

  1. Select Forms on the toolbar
    • If you're in Forms mode, press CTRL+F to open the Form Search, then enter S15 or Schedule 15 and open the form.
  2. Scroll down to Line 43 and select it.
  3. Press F2 to initiate the override.
  4. Select Yes.
  5. Enter $0 in the field. The text will be red to indicate the field is overridden.
  6. The full amount available for deduction should now show up at Line 44 to be carried forward to next year.

@TurboTaxSusan  "Our development team is looking into this issue" dated March 22.  One month later and the problem is still not resolved 😠

Thanks for the workaround, but this is an obvious TT error and it should be fixed ASAP!
Your customer shouldn't be required to perform a convoluted override on a Schedule for a standard option.  Some users have said the override caused a problem with Netfile.

When I try to override as you have demonstrated it states if I do so the tax return must be sent in paperbase. Is this correct or is there a fix coming soon for the problem of imputing FHSA for 2024
