Are you a non-resident? People who were non-resident for the whole year are generally not eligible for Foreign Tax Credit.    If you have questions about eligibility for the Foreign Tax Credi, you can contact the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for more assistance.    If you are in Canada or the United States, you can call the CRA at 1-800-959-8281. I had first filled in the "foreign tax credit" form, then saw a warning sign that I also needed to fill in the "foreign income" form, so I did. After I did that, when before I didn't owe any taxes to Canada, all of a sudden I do now own, despite the fact, that this foreign income is taxed outside Canada already. So am I getting double-taxed? As there is no deduction to be seen under "foreign tax credit".

There is no discrepancy between the numbers. The balance on my tax account shows -$1015 but it is sitting there and it has not been paid out to me. I am wondering why it has not been paid out?

If you had a tax professional E-File your return for you, you won't be able to use NETFILE or ReFile in TurboTax or any other personal tax software. You would have to have the changes transmitted by who ever E-Filed your return, or use another method to make the changes, such as MyAccount or with a T1-ADJ T1 form.

My 2024 tax return was accidentally e-filed with incorrect information. I only realized this when I attempted to NetFile the correct return and was unable to do so. I have my 2024 Notice of Assessment and I need to re-file the return. Am I able to use the ReFile option even though the return isn't currently eligible for filing? If not, could you please advise on the correct steps to re-file using TurboTax?   Thank you for your help.

While it can be frustrating, it’s common for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to make a tax return assessment that is different from yours.     The reasons for these discrepancies may vary, and can range from very simple (typo or data entry error, forgotten slip, receipt, amount, etc) to complex (carry-forward amounts not included, accounting errors, etc).    In most cases, the CRA will explain how they calculated your tax refund or balance owing, and you can find this information on your Notice of Assessment (NOA), under the heading Explanation of changes and other important information. Compare the line numbers on your NOA and their corresponding values with those entered into TurboTax.

I recently moved to France and am having trouble accessing CRA, even through the Bank Partnership link. Stuck and can't complete my 2024 taxes for both my husband and myself.
Balance shows -$1,015 as on May 15 2025. Line above shows cwb of -$2,400 credited to my account. Why did I not get the $1,015 ?
