Hello, I am wrapping up the 2023 tax online and need my AGI amount from 2022 to complete the process. I don't recall if I did it by CD or online.   Thank you!

@SternSteve121 TurboTax Desktop is run on your computer and stores files on your storage devices. Since Microsoft is no longer going to support Windows 10 (or Windows 8, or 7) with security updates, we can't risk having our customers entering their sensitive tax data on a computer environment that is no longer secure. That's why we are dropping support for TurboTax Desktop on Windows 10.    TurboTax Online runs and stores data on our servers, which are run at the same level of security that banks & other financial institutions use. Because it's browser based, you will still be able to use TurboTax Online on a Windows 10 computer if you're using a browser that still supports Windows 10, though we don't recommend it.    Another option is to use the TurboTax mobile app on your iOS or Android device. The mobile app uses the same servers as TurboTax Online.

You are forcing your users to update Windows version 10 to Windows 11. In order for me to do that I will need to update my machine, which is working perfectly well. Sooooo, if I want to continue using your product, I have to shell out lots of money and time. I take this as a very faintly disguised extortion on Microsoft part!! Outside of that I have used Windows 11 and find it to be a useless, overly bloated piece of crap. To say noting of the articles I have read about it. Does more harm then good. NO THANK YOU I will pass. The only option you have given me is to do it on-line, something that I am NOT comfortable doing. I assume you have written security code into that website, perhaps you can write security code into the Desktop version. Or just let your users own web security take care of it.
You don't need to report the land until you actually sell it. Then you can enter it in the capital gains/losses (Schedule 3) section of your return.

If you use TurboTax Online, then your tax returns are stored on our secure servers. Unfiled returns can be deleted at any time, but deleting them means you won't be able to edit or view them the next time you login. Returns that you have submitted via NETFILE can only be deleted if you delete your account.   Editable copies of returns (filed & unfiled) are available for 3 years, while PDF copies of Filed returns are stored for up to 7 years.

Ive read all the postws about the Costco version of the sign in with the activation code not working and i read your many duplicates of a solution - which has not helped.   The code that is on the piece of paper inside your box is not working.   The error says: The license code you entered is not valid. Error code :606   I purchased this product as soon as they appeared in store at the beginning of 2025. It was a new box ans not previously opened. This is annoying and happened in previous years so i returned it to Costco.  Please provide a solution and fix this.
It says “T1, line 23600” I don’t know what to put she only gets her child tax, do I put that amount ?
Where is the button for "file for both us" ?

TurboTax Desktop 2018 and onwards should work on Windows 11. If you can upgrade your computer to Windows 11, then they should continue working as usual, but if you have to get a new PC to use Windows 11, you would need to reinstall the software and transfer over your files.    TurboTax Online is different from TurboTax Desktop, but it still allows you to prepare & file your taxes. You can use TurboTax Online on any PC or Mac with a current web browser. No installation is required, you just need to login to the website for the year that you are working on. You may also have to enter an activation code if you buy a multi-return package, but that usually only needs to be done once per year.    You won't be able to open your previous year's returns from TurboTax Desktop in TurboTax Online, though you can still transfer the info from a previous year into a new return. You can save PDF files of your TurboTax Desktop returns so that you can view the information, even if you no longer have the Desktop program installed. This TurboTax Canada FAQ has info on how to do that: How do I save a PDF copy of my tax return in Desktop?

You can use TurboTax Online on any PC or Mac with a current web browser, and no installation is required. You can also use the TurboTax mobile app for iOS and Android devices to do your taxes on your smartphone or tablet.    Normally TurboTax Online is priced per return, however you can buy multi-return packages at 3rd party retailers like Walmart, Costco, Amazon, Staples, etc. The prices are usually similar to the Desktop versions, but the price set by the retailer, and they often have discounts, sales or other ways to reduce the price.    There is no equivalent of "Standard" for TurboTax Online, instead there is Deluxe, but that doesn't cover investments or investment expenses. For that you need Premier, which on Amazon.ca is currently the same price as the Desktop version: $90 for 12 returns.    I have passed on a suggestion to our product development team regarding a Desktop version for Macs. Thank you for your input.

I just received an email from TurboTax reminding me that Win10 is no longer supported. We have been using TurboTax for years. The last few I’ve been using an old laptop as I moved to a MacBook years ago. Why is there no desktop version for Macs? I assume at this point if I want to continue using TurboTax I’ll have to either buy a new Windows laptop (which I don’t really need) or use the online version. The website is very vague about pricing saying $0-70 per filing. We usually use TurboTax Standard and file for myself, my wife and our 4 kids. I can see for the kids that it will be free but I’m wondering what it is going to cost us per return? We have employment income, RRSPs, RESPs, donations, medical expenses, employment expenses, investment expenses and not much else. I’d really like to continue using TurboTax but I’m not going to start paying double and triple the cost of desktop standard.
