TurboTax Online has no way of saving to the .ttxx file format. TurboTax CD/Download can only import or open .ttxx files.
You can still print or download a PDF copy of your TurboTax Online return. Please see this TurboTax FAQ for instructions: In the online edition of TurboTax, how do I print a copy of my tax return?
Intuit didn't think on this possibility....how do we call this in a product?
I am a long time user of turbotax. I am disappointed we have no access to our tt21 file. This is fustrating as I would like to go back to the downloaded CD version. I prepared a number of online returns last year. Having the carry forward of last years data would be benficial.
Is this still true, that files cannot be transferred from online to computer? If this isn't true I would appreciate any help in executing the transfer.
If it is true, then I find it ridiculous that >2years later it is still not possible to transfer the information. Doing a quick internet search it appears that it is possible in the American version. This issue is making me seriously reconsider my choice of tax software.
It has always been the case that you can't transfer returns from TurboTax Online to TurboTax Desktop. We do pass on our customers' comments and requests about the matter. But, unfortunately, it hasn't happened yet, and will not be happening for the 2024 products.
While they look similar, the US & Canada software are not the same, which is why they have different features. Here in Canada, we use software developed in here, not the US. Also, our online software is based off of Intuit Profile, while TurboTax Desktop is its own program that has been around for 30 or so years.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
