TT2024 Standard: Carrying charges for fees for investment advice show up in the Alternative Minimum Tax Easy Step

I am using Easy steps method. I have entered an amount of xxx dollars into "Carrying charges for fees for investment advice" field. This seems to somehow gets misinterpreted as "current year non-capital loss" and shows up in the Alternative Minimum Tax screen.

More details:

Even though I do not have current year non-capital loss, I get a warning "You have a current-year non-capital loss on your return, but one or more entries is missing on Form T691: a loss reported on line ..."

When I click in the warning, it elaborates further as follows: "You have a current-year non-capital loss on your return, but one or more entries is missing on Form T691: a loss reported on line 12600 but no entry on line 67830; a loss reported on line 12200 but no entry on line 67840; a claim on line 23200 but no entry on line 67820; or a claim on line 22100 but no entry on lines 67820 or 67840. Check your entries and make the necessary corrections."

When I click on "Applies to me", it gets me to "Alternative Minimum Tax" Easy step.

At the bottom of this screen I can see: "There is a claim of $ xxx reported for carrying charges, interest expenses, or other expenses, but there are no entries on this step. Review your entries in the section for tax shelters, partnerships, and non-active partners."

And the xxx dollar amount is exactly the amount I claimed for "Carrying charges for fees for investment advice".

Yet, none of the options offered in the "Alternative Minimum Tax" Easy step apply.

Am confused.

Is this another TT2024 bug?

If it's just a warning, you can ignore it if it doesn't apply to you.

Thank you for your input.

Well, that's the catch: TT20224 suggests that it does apply to me. TT2024 "Alternative Minimum Tax" Easy step page suggests that without a doubt I have made an error in entering data by saying "There is a claim of $ xxx reported for carrying charges, interest expenses, or other expenses, but there are no entries on this step. Review your entries in the section for tax shelters, partnerships, and non-active partners." whereas the amount of xxx dollars is actually associated with "Carrying charges for fees for investment advice".

Said warning is a result of me trying to ignore the unreasonable suggestion on the "Alternative Minimum Tax" page.

Also, when I look at T1 General form, the line 12600 says 0.00.

Are you suggesting that I should be smarter than the TT2024 and conclude that this does not apply to me even though the TT2024 suggests that it does apply to me?

Please fix the bug.
