136 is supposed to = 131 less 135
For some reason, simple math is not working in turbo tax and inflating my taxes owed by $22k. Is this a glitch or am I missing something simple here?
Please contact our phone support team at 1-888-829-8608 as they will be better able to assist you.
I’ve called them twice and each time they tell me that I’ll have to upgrade (ie. pay more) to talk to a tax specialist. Complete crap because it’s a technical issue and not a lack of tax knowledge on my part. It’s magically added $20k to my taxes and my effective tax rate is 200%. It’s obvious it’s an error.
And it’s so weird that they won’t put me through to someone that can actually help me.
I'm thinking my only option is to get a refund and move my business elsewhere.
Can you please clarify where you are seeing this issue as your picture didn't go through.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
When I print out my tax return to PDF, I can see the issue in the T1.
On line 131 (federal tax 40600), I have an amount of $40k.
There are no amounts in boxes 132, 133, 134 nor 135.
On line 136 (which is defined as line 131 less line 135), this should equal $40k since line 135 is zero.
However, on line 136 (net federal tax 42000) my tax owing goes up to $62k.
I have no idea how my taxes went from $40k to $62k???
Thank you for the information, also one more question- which version of TurboTax are you using CD/download or Online? Free, Deluxe, Premier or Home & Business?
Thank you- we will try to replicate your issue and get back to you asap.
Thank you for your patience.
