Hello, had the same issue, working in Ontario, living in Quebec and impossible to file because of the subject error.
After a couple of hours going in circle and reading the posts, I realized that the 16A box amount of $188 is a maximum amount. Referring to line 26 of the Form RC381- Inter-Provincial Calculation for CPP and QPP Contributions and Overpayments it does indicates $188 as the maximum. I received a T4 for my Ontario Income with a 16A Box with $188 and a Relevé 1 for my Public Service Private Insurance (Employer insurance contribution is considered income for Quebec Tax) with a Box B-2 also of $188.00. I think it was a duplication of the same amount and TurboTax flagged it as an error with no information. Once I removed the $188 from the B-2 box of the Relevé 1, I was able to file both Provincial and Federal. But yes, it caused the return to be reduced by a whole $188. So maybe I am short $188 or maybe it was an error on that Relevé 1 - but I was able to file. Hope that helps. Cheers !
Thank you for the insight. I came to the same conclusion i.e. if I do not include the addition contribution in box 16A then the problem seems to go away. The problem with this approach is that instead of getting a small refund I get a small amount owed. Conclusion: after more than 10 years of using TurboTax, this was my last. For the moderator: I want to be refunded $45.19 ( cost for the De Luxe package purchased at Staples)
cannot netfile due to CPP error. I have trieed to fix it but with no positive result
@Tax_fedup On your T4 slip, box Box 16A is only supposed to be used if your pensionable earnings are more than the year's maximum pensionable earnings (YMPE) but not more than the year's additional maximum pensionable earnings (YAMPE). So it's incorrect for Box 16 to be empty when Box 16A has an amount.
As TurboTax doesn't compare slips together, if you can't get a corrected slip from your employer, then the work around that we have is to put something in Box 16.
