downloaded and purchased a license for 2023 and 2024 TurboTax for Canada, but keep getting this error. Hmm... it looks like we’ve hit a slight snag
I'm on my work Laptop and wondering if this could be a firewall or security issue. How do I confirm that?
You need to provide more information. If it is a Windows Firewall warning, you can ignore it. The file it is complaining about allows TT to access the internet, which you need to do.
Is this a TCP port issue or just windows firewall issue? What other details do you need? I'm not sure why this is so complicated if everything just went across on port 80 we would have no problems, just encrypt communication end to end and you're good.
We can't see what's happening on your computer, so we can't tell what's blocking TurboTax. You can try adding TurboTax as an exception in Windows Defender and any other anti-malware or security program you might be using.
I see the same message. I've tried different networks and I've disabled all firewalls and virus protection.
The message appears anytime that I try to pay for anything. (e.g. Live Tax advice or filing my state return). It's a very specific, very unhelpful message in a very specific condition.
I've called support several times and the problem has supposedly been escalated but I haven't seen any indication of progress during the past weeks.
@toddjegan We recommend that you give our product support team a call. So they can look into this for you. Thank you
I have called multiple times now. There should be an open ticket in the system but I haven't received any updates in the past week or so.
e-filing the federal separately without the state generates the same error so any e-filing generates this error along with any attempt to request tax advice.
I've double-checked my returns and tried different networks and various combinations of credit cards and addresses on the turbo tax web site.
I'll try another support call and hope for the best but it's looking like I will need to snail mail my returns as I am running out of time. The e-file is big part of why I purchase Turbo Tax. Is there a way to apply for a refund since that function doesn't appear to work for me.
