I'm having a lot of trouble using TurboTax this year. I'm trying to navigate through the self-employed section. I'm on the page with the heading "What was your Self-employment income?" If the total I made from the job is already listed under "Self-employment commissions from T4A slips - boxes 20, 48, or 105" do I also put this amount into the total revenue line above it? That makes it appear that I've made twice as much money.   It has also separated my two T4As into two distinct businesses on the "Your self-employment or business summary" page. Is this a problem? I can't figure out how to edit this and corral both T4As into the one single business which is just under my own name as I'm a professional actor.   Thanks for the help!
I waited to file my return and now I'm having trouble contacting an expert, as it's always "outside of business hours." When are the business hours?

Yeah I eventually figured that out.   But it is completely nonintuitive and will predictably lead to many missed filings. UI should continue back to netfile page after you see the netfile confirmation page, if there is a second return component that you must separately netfile.   This is a user experience (UX) bug. You should report it to the technology team.

If you used TurboTax Online, you can get PDFs of your past NETFILEd returns at the bottom of the page when login.   If you used TurboTax Desktop, then the returns are only saved on your PC, not our servers. We do not have copies of your returns. You can still get copies of your returns from the CRA, though.
@ehawthorne No, the T1135 is sent separately from your T1 tax return, so you'll need to go back through the filing section and click on the T1135 button to send it.

The netfile page had two buttons: (Netfile tax return) and (Netfile T1135). I had filled out the info for T1135 and saw that it was included in the preview pdf of my return. When I pressed the (Netfile tax return) button, it worked, but then it didn't return me to that netfile page so I don't have a chance to press (Netfile T1135).   Is my T1135 already netfiled automatically by Turbotax Online then? Confused as to netfile status.

Hello, I was charged multiple times across 3 payment cards while trying to pay the $30 for filing with Turbotax (6 times in total!) as every time I tried to pay I was met with an error screen about not being able to authorize my card, even though now I see the payments went through. The virtual assistant tries to get me to input a number to be called, however I moved away last year and no longer have a Canadian phone number, and it will not accept my Irish number as valid. Please help!

No, TurboTax doesn't have any cross borders services, though you can use TurboTax Canada as a non-resident.   You can ask questions about US taxes on the US TurboTax Community: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/   We would recommend contacting the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to see how you need to report this disposition of property.   If you are in Canada or the United States, you can call the CRA at 1-800-959-8281. If you are elsewhere, you can call 613-940-8495. This page has more ways to contact the CRA: Contact the Canada Revenue Agency

Same here. I purchased a program to do 8, completed 5 in April and when I tried to do 2 more yesterday it is asking me for payment, despite clearly showing only 5 have been used.  Turbotax is suggesting I deleted some returns in order to free up licences?  I have been using this program for 7 years, doing primarily the exact returns each year. I have never had an issue until this year and support is unwilling to figure out the issues. Prefers to make false accusations. Horrible customer service.

A Property Ownership Civil Lawsuit in Canada - My wife and I are Canadian, but residents of the US. We have been filing our taxes in the US using TurboTax desktop version. We were the plaintiffs in a civil lawsuit in Ontario Canada, to evict the defendants who were renting our townhouse. The defendants owed us monies funds we loaned to them over a decade or so. In lieu of the payment of the owed debt amount, the defendants transferred the title of a townhouse (purchased by them using the funds we had loaned to them) seven to us seven years ago. They also agreed to pay monthly rent. They never paid any rent. A couple of year later, when we served an eviction notice, the defendants claimed, that they paid for the property with their own funds and we were holding it in trust for them. The Settlement â€“ After several years of delays and adjournments, a settlement was reached last year to end the civil lawsuit. The main terms of the settlement agreement are: The settlement agreement called for us to be paid a sum of money, say $P CAD for Any and all amounts owed to us, say $D CAD Any and all costs and expenses incurred by us after the settlement since the start of civil lawsuite. We incurred the litigation Cost (say $L CAD) and the carrying cost for the townhouse (say $C CAD) prior to the settlement. The settlement also required the opposing party to reimburse us any and all carrying costs (say, $N CAD) related to the townhouse since the date of the settlement. Therefore, the final payment to us was $P CAD + $N CAD. We also incurred additional legal cost (say $EL CAD) after the settlement to enforcement the settlement agreement. Upon receipt of the Settlement Funds in their entirety ($P CAD+ $N CAD) this year, we transferred the title to the townhouse to the opposing party. My specific questions are: Since the property title was transferred to us in 2017 for the owned amount $D CAD, is it ok to take $D as the purchase price of the property in our non-resident Canadian tax filings and the equivalent converted amount in USD in our US tax filings? Is it ok to take the settlement amount $P CAD minus the pre settlement carrying cost $C CAD as the sale price in Canadian tax returns and the equivalent converted amount in USA in our US tax returns? Is it ok to take our total litigation cost $L CAD + $EL CAD as the cost of selling in our non-resident Canadian tax filings and equivalent converted amount in the USD in our US tax filings? Since the sum of $D + $C + $L (also $D + $C + $L + $EL) far exceeds $P, we will incur a significant capital loss in Canada. Is the loss in our US tax filings computed by converting purchase and sale prices and selling cost into USD (as above) or by converting the capital loss in CAD in our Canadian tax returns to USD? Does TurboTax Canada provide full or expert assisted service to file taxes for non-residents for this situation in Canada and does TurboTax USA provide full or expert assisted service to handle the tax filings in the US? If so, how can I utilize these services in Canada and the US? I am sorry for the long questions. I look forward to your guidance and responses to my above questions. Thank you so very much for your time.
Please double check that boxes 16 and 28 on you T4RIF are correct.   If you are still not able to resolve this issue, please contact our phone support team for more assistance.
You can only claim rental expenses if you were renting out the property or if you were actively looking for a tenant.
Yes, this would be where you enter your gross income. Don't include GST/HST if you are registered to collect GST/HST - you'll submit that info when you do your GST/HST return.
No, you can't do past year's returns through the app. However we do have other products available for previous years: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax/software/prior-year-taxes
