@TurboTaxSusan  Honestly, what kind of answer is this?  You want us, individually, to contact your phone support? What will they, realistically, be able to do about this programming bug? I'm sorry but your punt of this issue qualifies as "seat warmer" and "shut the customer up" support. What happened to turboTax?  If your programmers can't fix this egregious bug, how can I possibly trust that it will correctly and accurately calculate my taxes? Please reconsider your answer and escalate this issue to someone who can do something about it!

Probably not. As per Income Tax Folio S1-F4-C2 s.2.47, For an individual to claim the eligible dependant tax credit, a person must be wholly dependent for support on the individual. Support involves providing the basic necessities of life, such as food, shelter, and clothing. Wholly dependent for support on the individual generally means the person is financially dependent on the individual such that the individual provides almost entirely for the person’s well-being. In the case of a child, to be considered wholly dependent for support on someone, that someone must be responsible for the usual day-to-day activities of raising the child, such as ensuring the child attends school, and providing necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.   So, you would have to be able to prove that you are your brother's caregiver, not your parents, in order to be able to claim the eligible dependant tax credit.

I'm still seeing Turbotax request Admin privileges, which should never happen after the first installation, and I'm still waiting 34 days now for this issue to be brought "forward to our team to verify." I find the Turbotax staff postings lacking in technical background.  Uninformed speculation is not helpful.  Please share this thread with a programmer and get this Turbotax bug addressed.
Follow these instructions for TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop to submit your tax return using NETFILE.

If you are preparing a return with your spouse/partner, you can't only add upgrades or extra features to one return. You would have to prepare your returns separately to apply audit protection to only one return.   Unfortunately, once you have upgraded or added features to your TurboTax return, there is no way to downgrade or remove the extra features. You would need to create a new return to go back to the original product.    To start a new return, select “Start a New Return” from under “My Returns” in the bottom left corner. Once you have started your new return, you can select “View All Returns” from under “My Returns”. Then delete the unwanted return by clicking the small Trash Can next to it or “Delete” under the return’s name.
