Only the medical expenses you claim for your father take his income into account. Expenses you claim for yourself will be reduced by the lesser of $2,759 or 3% of *your* net income. Your brother's claims would be based on *his* income.     You won't be able to claim expenses that your brother paid, so yes, in the future for tax purposes, you might want to only have one of you pay for your father's expenses. The other person can always reimburse the one who did pay.
You need to check off "Rental Expenses" in the Rental Profile that's shown when you create/open your rental property information.

Starting with TurboTax Desktop 2023, your TurboTax Desktop license code will be linked to a single account. This means that during installation of TurboTax Desktop 2023 & 2024, you'll be required to login or create an account before entering your license code to access the software. When you enter the license code it will become linked to your online account. In the event that you want to install TT Desktop on another computer (up to 3 allowed), you’ll have to login with the same account on each computer to use the license code. Once you login during installation, you’ll stay logged in for 14 days.   We believe this change will benefit our customers in the following ways: Peace of mind knowing you are purchasing a legitimate product. Ability to retrieve your license code from your online account in the case of loss. Helps prevent others from stealing your code. Ease of installation on multiple computers as the code is already there when you login. You'll stay logged in for 14 days, speeding up several actions that would require a separate login each time (i.e. add-ons, buying more returns).   Your TurboTax Desktop returns, and tax return information is NOT stored on our servers, so family or friends who are using your licence on different computers will not have access to that information through your account.   If you would like to review the TurboTax Desktop 2024 Software End User Licence Agreement, you can do so here: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/ty24/eula/ttd Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

In the spirit of full disclosure and to put closure to my particular issue, I was ultimately able to conclude my case from last year on this medical expense claim year by getting a refund on this year's software after much back and forth. Credit to Intuit for finally following through on refunding my current software cost along with last year's after all the insistence that the medical expense claim year worked in the online version when it was clearly did not. I will continue as a customer but will not use the online version.
